Risa and Clay got married in Kodiak, Alaska in Abercrombie State Park. But first, let me just tell you how enthralled I am with these two. They ended up booking me sight unseen via e-mail, and we were all finally able to meet several weeks later in person in a coffee shop in Anchorage (Black Cup ya’ll….so goood). We met, and we instantly clicked. It was amazing. They started telling me about how they met…Clay was stationed in the National Guard in Kodiak, and one of his friend’s friends was coming to visit. “You two would really hit it off. We are going fishing tomorrow…you should come!” but that was the end of the story. Clay never got word on where they were going – and Kodiak is one of the biggest islands in the country (just a tiny bit smaller than Hawaii’s Big Island) – with hundreds and hundreds of great fishing spots. So, Clay just headed out to one of his favorite fishing spots the next day…just to see – and they ended up passing each other on a trail in the middle of nowhere. There was an instant connection between them in that moment. The rest is history. Clay managed to convince Risa to move to Kodiak to join him from Montana – and they finally got married…on the island they met and fell in love. Kodiak, and Abercrombie State Park are supposed to have STUNNING views of the Ocean, but naturally in Southwest Alaska fashion, a big cloud of fog came in and settled over the island (terrifying everyone that flights wouldn’t be able to land…and some didn’t! But mine did…thank youuu) and their view was diminished. Risa and Clay had the absolute best attitude about their day and they didn’t let the weather phase them or their excitement to spend the rest of their lives together. You know those families that make you feel welcome, loved, and special? Well, both sides of these families are like that, I felt so loved all day – and it’s a miracle they’ve found each other.
Enjoy. <3
